Clyde Kusatsu
Clyde Kusatsu’s performance as Dr. Jerry Kim in The Next Generation episode The Measure of a Man earned him a memorable place in Star Trek history. Playing the ship’s surgeon aboard the Enterprise-D, Kusatsu's understated portrayal helped ground the episode’s high-concept exploration of artificial intelligence and personhood. He later appeared in Deep Space Nine’s Phantasms, continuing his connection with the franchise’s exploration of Starfleet medical personnel. Kusatsu is also seen in the movie All Good Things..., the epic conclusion to TNG’s seven-season run, reinforcing his presence in key moments surrounding Captain Picard’s leadership and Starfleet’s evolving narrative. Known primarily as an actor, Kusatsu brought a quiet credibility to his roles that made supporting characters feel integral to the universe, complementing leads like Patrick Stewart and helping shape the dynamic aboard starships like the Enterprise and Deep Space Nine station. Outside Star Trek, Kusatsu has appeared in numerous TV shows and films, but his depiction of Starfleet’s medical officers remains a distinctive and respected part of his career among devoted fans.
