James L. Conway

James L. Conway directed several memorable episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, leaving a mark on the franchise with his strong storytelling and efficient command of tone. He helmed "Justice," a TNG episode that explores the Prime Directive in a unique way on the planet Rubicun III. He also directed "The Neutral Zone," which reintroduced Star Trek’s classic villains, the Romulans, setting up key storylines for the 24th century. On DS9, Conway directed "Frame of Mind," a psychological thriller that deepens the character of Commander Riker through a gripping exploration of identity and perception. His work helped bring some of the franchise’s most thought-provoking themes to life under the leadership of Captain Picard and the complex crew of Deep Space Nine. Beyond Star Trek, Conway has directed a variety of TV shows and films, but fans often recognize him for his confident handling of these critical early 1990s episodes.
