A young Trill named Arjin arrives at Deep Space Nine eager to experience life with a symbiont and seeks guidance from Jadzia Dax, a joined Trill. However, Arjin soon finds that Dax’s teachings and actions challenge his expectations about the responsibilities and complexities that come with hosting a symbiont, leading to tension as they confront differing views on identity and morality.
