When Trip suffers a severe injury aboard Enterprise, Dr. Phlox proposes growing a mimetic symbiont from one of his alien creatures as a possible transplant to save him. The procedure involves creating a clone that shares Trip’s memories and personality to ensure compatibility, raising ethical and emotional challenges for Captain Archer and the crew. As the clone develops rapidly on the ship, the team must confront the implications of this unconventional medical solution during their mission in hostile space.
