Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)

A mysterious alien probe arrives in Earth’s orbit, emitting a powerful signal that causes catastrophic damage to the planet’s oceans. With the survival of humanity at stake, Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise are faced with an unprecedented challenge. They discover that the probe’s message can only be understood through the presence of humpback whales, creatures that have been extinct for decades. In an effort to communicate with the probe and halt the destruction, Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Chekov, and Uhura devise a bold plan to obtain living whales from the past.

Using the Enterprise’s advanced technology, the crew travels back to 20th-century Earth, landing in San Francisco. There, they must navigate a strange and unfamiliar world to capture and transport two humpback whales to the future. Alongside their mission, the group faces numerous obstacles, including evading the authorities and finding a way to operate in a time before their advanced technology exists. Their journey combines elements of adventure and science fiction as they race against time to save both the whales and their home planet.
