Star Trek: The Original Series S02E24 “The Ultimate Computer”
Captain Kirk and a minimal Enterprise crew are tasked with testing the M-5, an advanced computer developed by Dr. Richard Daystrom that is programmed to control the starship’s operations autonomously. As the new system takes command, the crew must monitor its performance during a series of war games, while tensions grow over the consequences of relinquishing human control to technology. Commodore Wesley oversees the evaluation, and the situation challenges Starfleet’s reliance on automated systems in space missions.
