Tom Paris and Neelix compete for Kes’s attention when their shuttle crashes on a hazardous planet. Stranded, they encounter a fragile alien infant and must work together to care for the creature while navigating the planet’s dangers. Back on Voyager, the crew remains unaware of their predicament as the two struggle to protect the vulnerable life they have unexpectedly responsible for.
